Our Values
Our responsibilities are first to our worldwide customers, then to our people, next to our communities and finally to our shareholders. Therefore, we must:
1. Exercise honor, humanity and disciplined management in our actions.
2. See a unified world through the global perspectives of our people.
3. Ensure that the environment becomes a better place because of what we do.
4. Invest continuously in our future.
It is these values that guide NTIC now and will continue to in the future. |

Overview
Northern Technologies International Corporation focuses on developing, marketing and selling proprietary environmentally responsible materials science based products and technical services directly and via a network of independent distributors, manufacturer sales representatives and joint ventures in over 50 countries. In fiscal 2006, over 70% of NTIC’s consolidated net sales were derived from the sales of Zerust® rust and corrosion inhibiting packaging products and services to the automotive, electronics, electrical, mechanical, military and retail consumer markets. During this same period, NTIC also received revenues from sales of proprietary new technologies including anti-abrasion ink additives, as well as bio-based sintered metal mold release agents, bio-solvents, bio-emollients, bio-cleaners, bio-lubricants and bio-based and biodegradable plastic packaging.
|
|
Technology Platforms
In a concerted effort to extend NTIC’s proprietary technologies, we engage in extensive scientific research and development programs in the areas of material science and corrosion protection.
|
Zerust® is a line of environmentally friendly corrosion inhibiting packaging products and anti-corrosion coatings used in the automotive, electronics, electrical, mechanical, military and retail consumer markets. Zerust® has been NTIC’s primary product line for 30 years and continues to show solid sales growth year after year. |
|
React-NTI, LLC. is a joint venture between React, Inc. and NTIC for the development and manufacture of bio-based additives for personal-care and industrial applications. React-NTI’s patented renewable resource-based materials science allows the company to offer a range of unique soy, corn, cotton and other plant-based additives and formulations that are used to produce anti-abrasion ink additives, bio-based sintered metal mold release agents, bio-solvents, bio-emollients, and bio-based micronized powders. |
|
Natur-Tec™ is a line of bio-based and/or fully biodegradable (compostable) plastic products. Natur-Tec proprietary resins can be used to make bio-based and/or biodegradable plastic cutlery, grocery bags, lawn & leaf disposal bags, beverage cups and more. Patents and trade secrets allow NTIC to produce biodegradable (compostable) plastics with significantly greater mechanical strength properties in comparison to competitive products currently available in the market at a significantly lower price. |
|
Polymer Energy™ offers a viable, economical and environmentally responsible alternative to current methods of recycling and disposal of plastic waste. The Polymer Energy™ system uses catalytic pyrolysis to efficiently convert plastics (primarily polyolefins) into crude oil. Polymer Energy, LLC. is a joint venture between NTIC and Zbigniew Tokarz, the inventor of this innovative technology. This proprietary and patent-protected technology is marketed under the T-Technology brand in Europe and under the Polymer Energy™ brand elsewhere in the world. |

Corporate Joint Ventures and Holding Companies
NTIC participates, either directly or indirectly through holding companies, in approximately 30 corporate joint venture arrangements in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Each of these joint ventures manufactures, markets and sells finished products generally in the countries to which it is assigned. Manufacturing the product within each joint venture’s assigned country lowers shipping costs and improves on-time delivery to foreign customers. These international joint venture arrangements allow NTIC to successfully market and sell its products in foreign countries through the marketing efforts of joint venture partners without the company having to develop its own international sales force.
NTIC’s joint venture partners are knowledgeable in the applicable environmental, labor, tax and other requisite regulations and laws of the respective foreign countries in which they operate, as well as the local customs and business practices. While most of NTIC’s joint ventures currently sell rust and corrosion inhibiting products and custom packaging systems, NTIC also has joint ventures that manufacture, market and sell bio-based additives with both industrial and personal care applications, plastic recycling technology and electronic sensing instruments. NTIC categorizes its joint ventures into three principal areas: industrial chemical, non-industrial chemical and business consulting.
NTIC’s vast global presence exceeds the reach of any competitor in the market. Each joint venture is working to continually grow and penetrate each specific country’s market niche. The long-range plan of the company is to further penetrate the existing market as there is still considerable room for growth, and to expand into new markets.
