Job Title: Materials and Logistics Manager – NTIC – Circle Pines, MN

Purpose:

This position is a leadership role managing a team that is responsible for activities managing the warehouse and logistics. Responsibilities include managing our carrier relationships, optimizing our logistics strategy, and overseeing our warehouse and material flow for our Circle Pines facility, Third Party Logistics providers, and customers.

Roles and Responsibilities

Logistics:

  • Lead carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, and performance evaluation.
  • Source carriers and negotiate rates through request for proposals. Set up contracts with preferred carriers.
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment.
  • Responsible for handling all damage claims or mis-shipments.
  • Suggest most efficient and cost effective mode of transportation. Process freight allowance debits or credits.
  • Resolve customs issues and shipping documentation adjustments while shipment is in transit.
  • Approve and code freight bills to correct accounting codes.
  • Train shipping department personnel in roles or responsibilities regarding logistics.
  • Checking freight bills for accuracy.

Materials:

  • Oversee the Warehouse team and activities that include receiving, pick, pack and shipping operations.
  • Accurate inventory management. With the accounting team, manage our cycle count process. Set up monthly inventory accuracy KPI’s to ensure we are in compliance with compliance objectives.
  • Ensure all inventories on hand is handled properly in system throughout the reconciliation process and month-end closing.
  • Work closely with employees to communicate and educate on work instructions, policies, procedures, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitoring the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
  • Training of warehouse staff.
  • Optimize storage locations.
  • Report, document, and track damages and discrepancies of orders received.
  • Ensure that the QMS conforms to ISO 9001:2015.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Operations is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of production/warehouse management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • 2-5 years of proven experience managing inventory and order reconciliation
  • Leadership skills with experience managing direct reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory control
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and OSHA standards
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral are a must.
  • Familiarity with the requirements for shipping dangerous goods via ocean, air, and ground.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking work environment.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and ensure all documentation is properly processed and filed.
  • Strong computer skills required (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Physical Requirements of Job:

Tasks are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, bending, light lifting, or other restricted physical activities. However, some tasks may require some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (5-10 lbs.); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at keyboard.
